Product Description

Designed for automotive active safety and ADAS testing, the SAE Bicyclist Target is used for bicyclist detection, warning, and automatic emergency braking evaluation in controlled proving-ground environments. The product consists of a realistic bicycle surrogate and cyclist dummy, providing representative geometry, appearance, motion features, and sensor characteristics for camera, LiDAR, and millimeter-wave radar systems.

The target supports 360-degree perception testing, enabling realistic detection from front, rear, side, and oblique approach directions. It can be used in crossing-path, longitudinal, and other bicyclist pre-collision scenarios. The bicycle and rider are designed with realistic size, shape, visual appearance, clothing characteristics, LiDAR reflectance, and radar scattering behavior, supporting development and validation of ADAS and active safety systems.

The bicycle is equipped with ground-contacting rotating tires to reproduce realistic wheel motion. The cyclist dummy can be configured with rider posture and optional pedaling motion to generate bicycle-related micro-Doppler features for radar-based testing. The target adopts a lightweight, vehicle-friendly structure, and the magnetic connection allows the bicycle and rider assembly to separate into three parts during impact for convenient handling, transport, reassembly, and maintenance.

The product complies with SAE J3157, and supports C-NCAP and Euro NCAP bicyclist AEB testing requirements.
